Seven Lochs Wetland Park and the Bishops Estate
The Seven Lochs Wetland Park will be Scotlands largest urban nature park.Find out more about the natural heritage of this fantastic wetland area, and about plans for the park.
The Seven Lochs Wetland Park will be Scotlands largest urban nature park – with almost 20 sq km of lochs, wetlands and woodlands to discover and explore. The area has a rich history, stretching from early Iron Age settlement right through to Glasgows more recent industrial past. Starting from Provan Hall – Glasgows olders building.
This short walk into the wetland park will focus on the areas important role in medieval Glasgow. Once some of the richest hunting and fishing grounds in Scotland, the area was part of the estate of the Bishop of Glasgow, with the Bishops country palace located on the edge of Bishop Loch. Moving from the past to the future the walk will also look at plans for the Seven Lochs Wetland Park – a new heritage and nature park for Scotland.
