A unique opportunity to visit Andrew Muirhead & Sons historic Leather Works as the Company opens its doors in celebration of its 175th anniversary (1840-2015). See best practice manufacturing of modern seating leathers destined for the world’s major airlines and public buildings.
In 1758 John Muirhead began tanning leather at Pollokshields. The business grew and in time was passed down through the family. In 1870 grandson Andrew Muirhead moved his own well established leather business (est 1840) from the banks of the Molindinar off Duke Street to make way for the new Railways. An 18th century former Flax mill, then known as Dundee Works was converted and renamed Dalmarnock Leather Works. The Company has remained there to this day, manufacturing world class leathers for world class companies and organisations and with a pedigree stretching back over a quarter of a millennia.
Andrew Muirhead & Son Ltd remains a wholly owned subsidiary of privately owned Scottish Leather Group Ltd.
