Born in Glasgow in 1766, invented various fabric dyeing processes, the method for making bleaching powder, steel, vulcanised India-rubber and the waterproof fabrics that bear his name – by accident. Dr Bruce Durie describes his life and genius.

Please be aware that you must add yourself to the waitlist for every space and for the times that you want ie. if looking for three spaces at any time, add your name 3 times to each event time.

Limited Disabled Access
Please be aware there are two steps at the entrance of the building. Although we hope to have a temporary ramp installed we are having a few difficulties with this. Please call us on 0141 554 4411 before visiting to discuss your requirements.
Although it is desired to be fully accessible, unfortunately as this is a historic and listed building there are often restrictions in place that mean this is not always possible. We really appreciate your understanding of this.
